Daniel John Weiner
I rely heavily on the accidental significance in found objects and texts and assemble an art object that draws out the emotion and meaning that is just beneath the purported surface of the materials and the observer
I attempt to make each piece operate on the level of visual beauty, and on another level: triggering a self-reflexive act of discovery or interpretation, functioning as a diagram of revelation. With layering and a willful rereading of dormant information I nail together literal and figurative levels of understanding to show that any and all inquiry leads back to the self.
Many of my works deal with lust, adoration and their relationship to our essential isolation and strive to unveil how close to the interface with an aesthetic experience we dwell.
